New Home updates

So,
We closed on our new house on Nov. 22.  It was built in 1992, and needed some updating. So, since we had some money left from the sale of our old house, we decided to update.

Here is the kitchen before:

With it's white tile .......ugh!   Here it is mid-project:

And here it is with the new Quartz counter top and new deeper (love it) stainless steel sink.  We still want to paint the cabinets, but that's a large job for later:

Next up was the kids bathroom.  We decided to rip out the old vanity (so ugly) with it's seashell sinks and all.  We also tore out the extra shelf above the toilet and replaced the mirror and faucet. In doing all this, we also now need to replace the flooring since the old tile doesn't cover the whole floor anymore.  We'll be doing that at the beginning of the year. But for now, here is the before and after.

and finally.....the Master bath (my personal favorite).  We kept the vanity but replaced the counter top with a white/black quartz, replaced the seashell sinks with new modern square ones, replaced the faucets, drawer pulls, and changed the mirror into 2 separate ones.  Lastly, we decided to paint the vanity a grey color to match.  Here it is before and after:

Catching up

So.... we have really slacked on this lately.  Let's start at the very beginning (a very good place to start).  End of September led us into the never ending realm of house hunting and selling. We started off with a weekend of having to vacate our house 4 times on a Saturday so that our house could be shown to potential buyers.  Getting a house ready for buyers is an exhausting process of cleaning, organizing, de-cluttering, making things smell good, and then getting out as fast as possible.  Here are some of the pics of our house we used on zillow.com.

It took us a little while to find a buyer, but after dropping our price $10,000 (down to what was actually reasonable......hey why not try for higher at first right....) we got an offer.  We had put in offers at multiple places before, but they were not accepted since we didn't have a buyer for our house yet.  Now that we had a buyer our offer that weekend was accepted.  Here is our new house (hopefully...planning on closing on Tuesday, fingers crossed).
It's 600 sq feet larger and has a bigger kitchen and an extra bedroom :)

It's on the other side of town in the better school district, so we are excited!!

September also brought Aiden's 6th birthday.

October brought us Halloween and Ryan's 37th birthday. (Sorry Ry....we didn't love you enough to capture it in photos) We did however capture the kids and the pumpkins in photos like good Americans.  Enjoy!

Dress up for school. Aiden is Darth Vader, Zoey is a Zombie Ballerina, and Teresa is one of the guys from Go Noodle (a web site with brain breaks I use in class daily).  Here are the pics from actual Halloween night:

Other than that, our family has been plagued with a bout of pink eye for everyone except Ryan, and our latest struggle of strep throat, again for everyone except Ryan.  I guess there is something to his claim that he is "The Wolverine".

The kids are doing well at school.  Teresa has a pretty good group of 31 Kindergarten students this year, and Ryan is adjusting to teaching 4 days a week (finally got an extra class....hooray).  On to our next adventure........MOVING!!!   UGH!!!!

August.

So,
Since the kids and Teresa are at Disneyland and I am bored at home (b/c I had to work and they had the day off) I am posting a long overdue post about August. The kids and Teresa are back at school/ work.  (most of this has been on instagram but I'm putting it here so it makes it's way to the book)

Zoey is toothless.

I am at work. We are trying to sell our house/ move. Everyone is well. I went and visited the Palisades Glacier. The southernmost glacier in the US. It was a good quick 3 day trip.

There are 7 lakes all in the same basin. Night one we camped at first lake then night 2 we camped at fourth lake.
Spot the Fawn?

Lon Chaneys old cabin. Still in good shape.

The actual Palisade Glacier, while we were there it cracked and boomed but nothing fell off.

Sam Mack Meadow. The water was straight from the glacier and tasted good.

some plant with super weird seed pods.
Teresa and I also went to Vegas. We walked around, gawked, went to Hoover Dam, took the Dam Tour, ate WAY too much and had a good time.

That is all for now.
