Watch out world, here comes Zoey!

Well, Zoey will be 8 months this Thursday. As a treat for us for her 8 month birthday she has decided it would be a good time to show us that she can crawl. It all started with her pulling herself up in the crib after a nap about a week ago. I came in to get her and was greeted by this smiling face standing up in her crib. (We immediately moved the mattress down to avoid a spill)

This first video is of the first day that she inched forward. She had been rolling around to get to where she needed to go for a long time, and then one day just decided to take that momentum and move it forward.

Now that it's been a few days, she has really taken to the whole crawling thing. She finds something that catches her interest, crawls to it, and then finds something that she can use to pull herself up on. She doesn't seem to be content just to crawl. She has to stand at her final destination. So here is her new skill just a few days later. (Sorry about the shaky camera. I had to hold onto the bouncing chair so it wouldn't tip over)

Zoey's other hobby is to tear up paper. She especially likes magazines. Here she is in the midst of destruction.

I like her mischievous look in this one:

Well that's it for now. Wish us luck with our new handful!!!

7 months and some teeth

Hello all,
Sam here. Zoey is getting a bit more mobile. She still doesn't really crawl but if you give her some motivation she'll start rolling and squirming your way. Here I am deftly avoiding her grabby hands.

She has also started really enjoying reading a couple of books before bedtime. She turns the pages all by herself.

Lastly for now she has managed to break in a couple of teeth. The mountain man tried hard to get a picture of said teeth but she wasn't feeling too cooperative. Here is the best he could do.

Notice the blurry whiteness on the lower jaw. She bites mighty hard with those 2 teeth.

Till next time keep dry and warm.

Christmas 2009

Hey there! It's only my 2nd time writing a post so bear with me. Christmas this year was excellent since we had Zoey to share it with. Zoey and I spent a week down at my parent's house. Ryan had to leave to go to his grandmother's funeral, so we spent a few extra days in Dana Point. Grandma and Grandpa Grover got a great deal on a high chair for Zoey to use off of Craig's List. As you can see, she is really enjoying it.

Zoey got a lot of great gifts. She received many new books (she loves to be read to), some really cute outfits, 2 cell phone toys (she is fascinated by mine), and an awesome jumper from Grandma and Grandpa Cheney. Here she is with her loot.

Here is Zoey with her Aunt Cori on Christmas morning.

On Christmas night my family has started a new tradition of going out to eat at a Chinese or Japanese restaurant. I don't know exactly how it started (I think it might be reminiscent of "A Christmas Story" but my mom claims that's not it)....but anyhow for a few years now we go out on Christmas night. This year we went to Yamato's where they cook in front of you. Zoey has figured out how to close her eyes for the flash, so the pics aren't great...but enjoy anyway!

BTW- check out Zoey's too cute Christmas dress courtesy of Grandma and Grandpa Cheney!

Now for some of the Christmas photos we took. We priced out going to a studio and decided that Ryan could do a better job!

That's all for now! Have a great 2010!!!!

Catching up! (longest post ever)

Hello all,
Things have been busy around here lately. I'll try and run things chronologically to get ya'll up to speed. The first major event was Halloween. You have all seen Zoeys costume but you haven't seen our sweet jack o' lantern or how the sweet smelling lady dressed. Here you go.

Rumor has it that there was a popo ghost on the loose that night. The beard did his best to catch "proof" just like Jay and Grant do every Wednesday night. This is what he caught.

The next major event was when the sweet smelling lady turned the big 30. The beard stopped by Coldstones on the way home and picked her up a Cookie Dough ice cream cake. She was kind enough to share after the picture.

Her birthday was a big success. A few days after that we loaded up the car and set out for the O.C. I love a good trip to the spoil me rottens house. I didn't even throw up on the way down this time. (It didn't to to well though so they got me doggy Dramamine for the next time) When we arrived the grandparents immediately snatched up Z.

Grandma taught her how to play the piano.

After much hullaballoo in the kitchen the feast was ready. Popo heard the word "TURKEY" and suddenly sprang to life!

We ate a delicious feast and I settled back into a comfortable position like any ALPHA MALE worth his grits on Thanksgiving does. A couple notches larger in the ol' belt region.

Soon everyone came over and sat down to rest after the tremendous meal. Popo almost got sat on.

I settled in next to popo and grandpa for a nice rest.

The day after Thanksgiving the beard took the sweet smelling lady and Aunt C to hit some outstanding sales. They came home with this "I can climb Mt Everest and Still look fabulous" warm jacket that C bought for Z.

Lastly there has been quite a bit of development on the Z front! She can sit on her own. (pay no attention to the spooky eyes behind her that's just me giving the beard the crazy gaze)

Since she can sit up she's now eating in a high chair!

She's learning to be nice and pet us dogs gently. (without pulling on my ears) Here she is practicing on popo.

I'm making him take the brunt of it then when she is good at it I'll sneak in for the love.

She is also learning TO FLY!!!!!!!!

Lastly, since Christmas is coming up, her east coast spoiling representatives got her a super fun bouncer contraption which she has put to good use and made a video of. I call it "Bouncing Z while Momma Makes Monkey Sounds"

That's all for now. Till next time remember...

Bostons especially like hard rubber super strong toys wrapped up and put under the tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Halloween for Z!

Hello all,
Sam here. It was that crazy time of year where humans dress themselves up in ridiculous outfits and beg each other for treats. My humans made a pumpkin, decorated the house, and got 2 groups of hoodlums all night.... 2 .... The sweet smelling lady was extremely disappointed and the beard just kept saying how it didn't used to be this way. He sounded like an old man (did I mention he is 30?)
Anywho, this year they spared me the humiliation of a costume and instead subjected Z to it. First they tested a homemade costume...

Clearly she did not like the "PANTS ON HEAD AVENGER!!!" costume so we bought her a sweet pink leopard costume. We took her out to the pumpkin patch with the spoil me rottens to show her off (and I think tire her out).

She was the cutest pink leopard at the place from what I understand. I wasn't there.

Till next time BOOO!
