Pre Easter Activities Posted Post Easter
So,
In our last episode we were in search of the perfect 5th grade field trip spot. We notched a few more on the belt last weekend. The first was a local joint. The antelope valley has a long history of aviation history to it with plant 42 producing a lot of the secret planes and test plans through the early 80's. There is now a museum dedicated to this fact in Palmdale. We went there and learned about planes and bombs and missiles.
That destination might not be the best due to the weather extremes out here. It was cold that day so T took her notes and we booked it.
The following day we went down to Calabasas to hang out with the Kardashians. T figured that she could get her students to write about the utterly vapid state of american popular culture. We never actually found the kardashian clan but we saw lamborghini's. ferrari's, bentleys, and more $100,000+ cars that I can list. We also happened upon the Leonis Adobe. Turns out some dude owned almost the entire san fernando Valley area at one point in California's history under the "I'll murder you and take your land act" of the old west.
It was actually a great destination for field trips. We were the first ones there so all of the actors in period costumes greeted us and showed us around personally. They had animals to feed and plaques to read and lambs in need.
It is restored to it's original state outhouses and all.
The lamb in the back is an orphan so they have to hand feed it every hour.
T believes Leonis Adobe to be the perfect 5th grade field rip destination so our search has ended. That and the fact that she's done the required number of visits now for her class. It's been fun going to all of these places the last few weeks.
The Easter post is coming later since I have a bunch of pics to sort through for that one.

It's cool that you and the kids got to go to all those places with her to check them out. They all look abandoned! Nice to have the place to yourselves.
You guys go lots of fun places. Well, I have zero interest in airplanes, but the second place looks cool.
Looks like a fun time. Dad would like that airplanes. Didn't you kids go to that place in Calabasas when you were at Brookside?
I thought the place we went to when we were kids was in camarillo/ Oxnard somewhere.
we went to olivas adobe. I remember spinning yarn, making adobe bricks and hand made tortillas. That place was cool, we should go there.
I did go on a field trip to Camarillo with one/two of you kids but it does seem like I took someone to Leonis Adobe, too.
