Poppy fields ad snakes.

So,
This past week has been moderately better than the previous 2. The family health is still not quite returned but we are on the mend. Prescriptions have mostly run their courses, ribs are slightly better, vomit still happened but you can't win them all,... right!?
Today we ventured out to the west sides of the Antelope Valley to go see the bright orange fields of California Poppies. If you go the the state park and nature preserve they charge you $10/ car. This year the preserve didn't look all that impressive on first glance from the south east so we chose to go to a hillside that did look quite promising. It was really lovely.

We were warned by a few different people that there had been sightings of the notoriously ornery Mojave Green Rattlesnake. Those warnings and a respect for the fragility of the fields kept us mostly out of the center of the flowers but as you can see the fields were really blooming.
We also got to see a rattlesnake (dead). It looked like it had slithered out to sun on some concrete and somebody bashed it's head in then cut off it's tail for some reason. I don't really like people sometimes.

A few more shots of non people, or non specific people as the case may be.

This coming week is the last before Teresa and Zoey start spring break. Let's hope it's a quick one.

Till Next Time-

Brokedown in Lancaster

So,
Over the past 3 weeks there have been broken ribs, sinus infections, chocolate chip cookie/ cheese vomit, the flu, fevers, thyroid nodule and coughs that sound like death playing the timpani in a Mahler opera. We've been laid up pretty bad. Z is finally getting over her bout, I'm getting more capable of doing things as the pain in my rib lessens. Aiden and Teresa are still having a bit of difficulty but we have managed to be out and about doing things.

Aiden went to Basketball two weeks ago and Grandma and Grandpa Grover came up to witness the melee.

For some reason I can't find any of those pictures.

Yesterday we took advantage of the really nice weather to get outside. We went to Vasquez Rocks. The kids keep improving in their daring outdoor skills and endurance. Teresa had never been before and we all enjoyed it.

Me once again making Teresa nervous about my impending death.

Proud Hikers.

Rest in the shade and photo time.
In other news I got my permits for the High Sierra Trail after fighting with fax machines for 2 days straight.

Hopefully we can all get better soon.
