The last week.

So, I'm afraid there is no way that this post will serve as any kind of resolution to the previous post.
With that said...T had a busy week. On Wednesday night she had to go work at Mcdonalds to fund raise for her school. I took the kids but I forgot the camera and it was so crowded there was no where to eat. We bought some food, bid T good luck and left. Last Friday T loaded up a bus with rowdy 5th graders and set out for a boat ride on a "floating laboratory" There are a few pictures of that.
There is some real gold in those photographs. Just amazing. She loaded up on dramamine, accu-pressure bracelets and ginger gum and managed not to lose her lunch on the entire trip. A real feat.
I had to go into the valley to change a grade for last semester. I took the kids to an indoor play yard down there. It was empty at first so they had the run of the place. It filled up eventually but we didn't stay all day.
Then on the weekend we headed down to the OC to BBQ and enjoy some grandparent/ Aunt time.
It was really fun. Great food, shopping, walking, swimming and just hanging out.

Total (Not Really) Eclipse of the Heart ((or not) I'm kinda forcing that one)

So we had an 80% solar eclipse here yesterday. It was 100% further north on the west coast. I prepared a solar eclipse viewing pinhole device and we went out into the yard. Despite the fact that these don't happen to often the kids weren't enthused.
This was my handy dandy Pinhole viewer so that we didn't have to look at the sun and burn holes in our retinas.
I'm sure there is some kind of commentary on our life in that picture. This was the view inside.
This was my attempt at photographing it with my old mostly busted digital camera. Notice the lens flare is in the shape of the eclipse.
I guess it is a byproduct of this type of eclipse and the same effect that allows the pinhole viewer to work that anywhere there is a tiny hole the shapes of the eclipse will appear projected onto surfaces behind that. so here is our fence covered in tiny eclipse projections and our neighbors house.
The eclipse was pretty neat. RTSZA

A Walk In the Desert.

I've been taking the kids out of the house most mornings. It's more fun for me if we can go somewhere interesting. I've been wanting to check this place out in the daylight to make sure there isn't anything crazy going on so I can come back for a night shoot. We didn't get too close to the abandoned houses b/c the ground is covered in broken glass and trash and barbed wire but we took a nice long walk on the road.
That's all for now

Mothers Day.

So this past weekend it was an extravaganza to celebrate wonderfulness that is T. The kids colored her an enormous card, which Z was exceptionally proud of. She also reeled in some candy, flowers and a gift card.
I asked her what she wanted to do for Mothers day and she said she wanted to go to the farm so away we went. The strawberries are still in full swing as well as some other goodies. Turns out a lot of folks had the same mothers day plans.
Z makes friends easily, then dominates them. Witness the fear and hesitance in her playground partner at this moment. Let's just say she knows what she wants.
Aiden loved driving the tractor.
We finished with a few meals of various deliciousness and reggae. (see previous post) In other news Z and A have been going to "Games To Grow On" class and having a good time. I think she missed going to a class for the last month.
