So,
T took the kids down to OC and sent up her father to help me install some laminate wood flooring in our kitchen and entry. The room isn't square, my saw wasn't big enough, but the job is (mostly) done.
The old floor was a mess, it was just linoleum with holes and paint and dirt and all kinds of marks. It was probably 21 years old. so here is the before shot.
Here is the new floor with all of the trim stained and installed.
I still have to pull up the carpet to linoleum transitions and install carpet to wood transitions going from the kitchen to the living room and from the entry to the living room but T and the kids are home and I am about as sore as I can ever remember being so I'll save that for another day. So here is a shot of the unfinished entry floor. It used to be the same linoleum as the kitchen.
Till next time

That looks really good. You did a great job. It's hard work being on your knees all that time. The transitions can be a pain to get right and as you point out are specific to different heights and types of flooring.
Keep up the good work!
That looks great Ryan! Now it will be more fun for A. to sweep!
Awesome job! It looks great!
That looks really nice. Was it more or less difficult than you anticipated (or just what you expected)? Are your walls as frustratingly not square as ours?
Dan, It was a bit more difficult than expected and most of that was due to the fact that there were crazy angles going multiple ways all on a few boards. and yes our walls are frustratingly not square. There was way more hand sawing than I thought there was going to be...
And thanks everyone!
Wow! Looks fantastic!
